I’m Dan Rapp — husband, father, grandfather, and Chief AI and Data Officer at Proofpoint, where I lead AI transformation in human-centric security.
I studied at Brigham Young University and have spent my career in engineering, data science, and technology leadership. I speak some German and previously served as Director at Large for the Society for German Genealogy in Eastern Europe — which connects to the biography project on this site.
Outside of work, I’m a home automation enthusiast, a loyal Bayern FC supporter, and I love to travel. Barbara and I have eight children and fifteen grandchildren, and our household includes two Havanese puppies and a cat.
My wife Barbara Melendez-Rapp is Assistant Dean of Achievement & Impact at Wake Forest University School of Law, where she founded PLACE (Program for Legal Access and Career Excellence), creating pathways for underrepresented students entering law school. She previously practiced immigration law and taught at BYU Law School.
That’s a Rapp! is our family’s corner of the web — a place for sharing history, stories, and memories. The centerpiece is an ongoing biography of Ewald Rapp, pieced together from letters, documents, and family memory. The site is self-hosted on a home server and built with Hugo.
